Gratitude as a Foundation for Growth

Week 13 Blog:

This week’s focus on gratitude helped me take a step back and see how far I’ve come, not just in this course but in life overall. It’s easy to get so caught up in progress, plans, and problems that we forget to pause and appreciate the blessings and lessons we’ve already received. The readings and videos reminded me that gratitude isn’t just about saying thank you. It’s about recognizing the good that comes from every part of the journey, even the difficult parts.

One idea that really stood out to me was that gratitude is something we choose. In one of the videos, the speaker said that success doesn’t bring gratitude. Instead, gratitude brings success. That really made me think. I realized that when I focus too much on what’s missing or what isn’t going right, I start to feel stuck. But when I shift my focus to what’s already going well, even if it’s small, I feel more motivated and capable.

As my husband and I continue preparing to start our business, I’ve had moments where it all feels overwhelming. There’s so much to figure out, and sometimes I question whether I can handle it. But when I stop and remember everything I’ve already learned, the support I have, and how far we’ve come, it helps me feel grounded. It’s easier to keep going when I recognize the progress we’ve made and feel thankful for it.

This week also reminded me how much mindset matters in entrepreneurship. When we focus on what’s going wrong, it’s easy to lose momentum. But when we lead with gratitude, we’re more open to solutions, more connected to our purpose, and more resilient when things get hard. Gratitude brings clarity and peace, even when the road ahead is full of unknowns.

I’m looking forward to the next part of the journey both in this course and in life. I hope I can keep approaching each new step with a grateful heart, knowing that every part of this process is shaping me into who I need to become.

W03: True Blue Integrity This week’s focus on honesty and business ethics really made me reflect deeply on what it means to live with integrity, not just in professional settings but in every aspect of life. Sheri Dew’s talk True Blue Through and Through was especially powerful. Her words reminded me that being honest isn’t just about not lying, it’s about being completely true to who I am, regardless of the circumstances. She shared that true integrity means being the same person in the dark as you are in the light. That hit home for me.
